Amsterdam, 21 September 1949 - Roermond, 8 August 2020
Leon J.M. de Haas Bronkhorst (born in Amsterdam, 1949) studied Philosophy (MA, 1977) and Mass Psychology & Communication at the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He worked as a philosophy teacher at the University of Amsterdam and the The Hague Academy for Social Work, and as a freelance philosophy researcher at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. In 1976 he started practicing ‘embedded philosophical practice’ in the context of community development, and, from 1990, as an organization consultant and leadership coach. Since 2007, he ran his own philosophical practice, called PlatoPraktijk, mostly in the context of personal coaching and counseling. He was editor ‘Philosophical practices’ of the Dutch-Flemish philosophy magazine ‘Filosofie Tijdschrift’; a Member of the Board of the German Berufsverband für Philosophische Praxis (BV-PP; Professional Association for Philosophical Praxis); and one of the coordinators and teachers of the BV-PP’s “Bildungsgang” (educational program). He was project manager of the 10th International Conference on Philosophical Praxis in The Netherlands, 2010. He was working on his dissertation for a PhD in Philosophy at the Stellenbosch University in South-Africa. Leon died suddenly, in Roermond, in August 2020.
